Matthew 7:15 True and False Prophets
15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
Acts 20:29
29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.
Words spoken over two thousand years ago but still hold true for the church today.
Person comes to tell you that they are close to God and you think they are close to God. And yet they are willing to tell lies about other people. They are willing to put down other people. This is not being close to God as that is not what God wants. God tells us in His word to build others up, not to tear people down.
Why do we believe one person over another? Why is it that someone tells us something negative about a person or a church that we believe it to be the honest to goodness truth? Why don’t we talk to the second party in this situation and listen to their side?
This is what I call wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Ephesians 4:29
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
God never changes. He is always the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. Do you really think that the creator of the universe is going to say, wait a minute, maybe you guys are right, maybe I need to change this, maybe I was wrong when I was creating the planets or creating people. Making them in images of us and defining them as men and women. Maybe I made a mistake.
God doesn’t make mistakes.Sin in the world makes mistakes. Sin in the world causes trouble. Sin in the world causes mental health issues and other health issues. We all know that. But God never changes, He is always the same, today, tomorrow and forever. God knows what is going on in the world today and He is NOT conforming to it. That is not what God does.
It is the same with us as a church. Are we to conform to what is going on in society today? Or do we trust and believe in God’s Word? Our church definitely believes in God’s Word and we follow God’s Word. If God says this is a sin then it is a sin. There are people out there who do not want to hear about that, they don’t want to know about that.
I don’t understand how people can break away from a church on the hearsay of someone else. They have no proof that someone said or did something. It was just about something someone said because they are mad at the church. That is not right. And it is not what we should be as a church that is willing to live by God’s rules. Willing to give by God’s Word. Not to change things because society says we need to do this or change that. It is not about society, it is about God. God made us. God made the world. God decided everything. He doesn’t say Ok, today in 2023 I am going to make this change. God doesn’t do that. God is the same from day to day.
If you hear someone say that this person did this or that person did that, that is not a Godly person. That’s gossip. That isn’t what God tells us to do.
Proverbs 16:28 New International Version
28 A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends.
Romans 1:28-32 New International Version
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
God doesn’t tell us to gossip and tell about things that people have done whether true or not true. If somebody comes to you and says so and so robbed a bank, you don’t believe it until you hear from a reliable source. Until you know the truth. It is the same in the church. If somebody comes to you and says I am not going to that church anymore because such and such happened, you need to find out, if that is your church, if it did happen. Not just believe because someone else said so and walk away from your church.
We are a bible believing church and that is what all churches should be and most are. God tells us certain things in the bible. God says certain things about the way He created man. It is the sin that has come into the world that disrupted all this stuff in the world and it’s just crazy what people are doing.
They are bringing unrest and creating lost people. Instead of being closer to God and bringing people to Christ, they are moving people away from Christ. They are scaring people away from the church. And they are looking to help people seek fault, not encouraging them to seek what Jesus did for us on the cross. It is not what is happening. It is not a Godly person who says we aren’t going to that church because they don’t accept this and they don’t even know if they do or not. We accept everybody the way they are. We accept them into the church and we pray for them. But they need to know what is right in God’s eyes. That is the most important thing. It does not matter about the church, it matters what is right in God’s eyes. And God is not going to change what He has decided is important.
If you hear any gossip or rumours about any church, do not share it, even if it is true, it is not up to us to be judgemental and pass on things we hear whether they are true or not true. If it is your church, discuss it with your pastor before believing what you hear.
Think about what God wants us to do and follow Him and only Him.
God is love. God loves you!
Blessings,
Brian
